RARE High Grade Hampton Butte Petrified Wood Rough 9.07LBS This incredible specimen of Hampton Butte Pet Wood is the larger half of an incredible, unusual, and distinctive Hampton Butte round. Written about the other smaller half of this dramaticly beautiful whole. Applies to both:This is an exceptionally rare rough piece of Hampton Butte Petrified Wood. This quality of Hampton Butte is extremely hard to find these days. If I had a larger slab saw, there is no way that I would sell this exceptionally rare piece. The many high grade slabs that could be created would cover the initial cost of the rough piece…probably at least a few times over. This is truly a masterpiece of Hampton Butte rarity! Weight:
9.07 pounds/ 145.1 ounces Measurements at widest points:
7.30” x 6.38” x 4.75”“Hampton Butte petrified wood is considered rare and highly collectible. While you can dig for it at the famous deposit in Central Oregon, it is sought after globally for its extreme color variations and unusual formations. The key factors that make this material rare and unique include:Vibrant Green Coloring: Among all petrified wood, green is one of the rarest colors (often caused by trace minerals like copper or iron). Hampton Butte is world-renowned for yielding deep emerald, turquoise, and moss-green fossil wood.Exceptional Range of Hues:
Beyond green, it frequently produces striking reds, maroons, teals, and sometimes even blue tones.Agate & Jasper Replacements: Much of this material is heavily agatized or jasperized, creating beautiful transitional "limb casts" and moss agates rather than just standard brown fossilized wood.Natural "Desert Varnish": Many high-quality surface finds have a smooth, wind-polished exterior known as desert varnish, which makes them uniquely appealing to lapidary artists even before being cut” - AI Overview. **Please check back often, as I still have many slabs and rough that I will be posting in the near future… Some from my private collection!NOTE: As with all rocks/slabs, there can be some fracturing. If there is, it can be viewed in the photos. If for any reason you are not satisfied, simply return the order in the same condition as purchased in within 14 days of receipt, for a full refund. Thank you so much, and have a wonderful day!
