RARE! WWI US Army Engineer Corps Son In Service Felt Window Banner Flag 1917RARE! WWI US Army Engineer Corps Son In Service Felt Window Banner Flag 1917
Up for sale or purchase is an exceptionally scarce and historically unique piece of American homefront history: a Vintage World War 1 U.S. Army Corps of Engineers "Son In Service" Felt Window Banner Flag.
Scarce Tab-Top Banner Configuration:
This particular piece features a highly collectible structural configuration. While the vast majority of WW1 homefront flags are basic rectangles or standard straight-sided triangular pennants, this specific piece features a specialized tab-top banner layout. The traditional triangular pennant body extends downward from a wide, distinct rectangular header block. This header block is attached directly to the top metal suspension bar. This tiered configuration indicates a premium, localized, or custom manufacturer variant rather than a mass-market production piece. Dimmensions including the hanger: 13 3/4" x 6"Condition Report:
- Felt & Embroidery: The olive-drab/green felt body and the dense, multi-colored embroidered details are heavily intact. It retains incredible color contrast and eye-appeal for a textile over a century old.
- Suspension Bar: Features the original metal suspension bar clamped directly into the top header block. Please note that the metal bar has a noticeable crack (visible in the pictures provided). This is a very common condition anomaly due to the age and bending of the metal from the 1910s and does not detract from its beautiful display capabilities.
Please review all high-resolution photos closely for exact cosmetic details, stitching condition, and scale measurements before offerding or purchasing.Shipping & Handling:
- Securely packed flat with rigid backing to fully protect the suspension bar and vintage felt.
- Shipped with tracking.
