RCA 3 RH21G Radio Professionally Repaired Works Good Vintage 1962This radio is electronically restored. It works like when it was made and is in good condition. For a detailed description of the radio and the work done, please continue reading:WARNING ----> this radio uses the obsolete round 4.5v battery. They are available from The Excell Battery Company as part # A21 / A133 . They are going for over $10. I make my own out of 3xLR50 batteries. I will include a new battery with your order. This cool old radio breezed by my service bench 9-15-2026. In its original leather carry case, it looked like it was not used much.Initial inspection:
I took the back off the radio and immediately noticed its speaker was broken. (the solder bridge that connects the speaker’ voice coil to its circuit board’s wiring was gone). These use a unique 3-wire speaker. I have a test tool for that, so I connected a speaker to the wires and gave the radio some power. It worked… didn’t get very loud, but it worked.Research:
Made in the USA, Radiomuseum says this radio was made in 1962.Repair:
I had a good speaker for this radio. I disassembled the radio and started my standard service work of replacing all the electrolytic capacitors this radio uses. It has four; one was open, and two were very tired. Replaced, the radio’s volume was restored to full performance and it sounded good.A little deox treatment for its volume control and a check of its alignment… the radio was ready to be reassembled. The radio was pretty clean, so I gave it a quick “Once Over” and reassembled the radio.Performance:
Volume control goes smoothly from totally silent to overload loud. For strong local stations it produces a sound that is Clean and Clear. It is sensitive. It tuned all the weak stations in my area, and it DX’s a little.Condition:
No Chips. No Cracks. It’s a nice radio. Please see my photos. It comes with original leather carry case that is also in “barely used” condition. Its carry handle also doubles as an “Easel Kick-Stand”.A new 4.5v battery will be included. : )_-----I usually service the vintage radios I sell on . Serviced = I clean the volume control, check the radio’s alignment, and check its current draw. I also fix whatever else needs attention.I ship USPS Flat Rate. A tracking number will be provided the following business day after purchase. I will combine shipping when applicable, so please see my other cool old radios for sale.-karl : )_
