RPPC Mukilteo WA Lighthouse Coast Church Panoramic Snohomish Real Photo Postcard:
$50.99

A fantastic early antique photographic view of Mukilteo, Washington before the ferry terminal and modern homes — a rare visual record of the town’s original shoreline settlement. The town: Identified as Mukilteo, Washington based on lighthouse position and shoreline configuration.

(near Everett, north of Seattle)

1908-1915 RPPC Mukilteo Washington Lighthouse Coastal Town Panoramic Real Photo Postcard Snohomish Co WA

The building in the distance is the historic Mukilteo Light Station (1906).

Mukilteo’s lighthouse sits on a low sandy spit projecting into Possession Sound.

From the hillside road (now Mukilteo Blvd)

The winding road in this postcard is the old wagon road from Japanese Gulch down into Mukilteo landing, used by farmers bringing goods to the ferry/steamer dock.

Early Mukilteo had a small church just uphill from the waterfront settlement — shown in historic photos from 1910–1915.

The scrubby open hill, cleared farmland is classic pre-suburban Snohomish County coastal prairie. Today it’s covered in houses, but before 1920 it looked exactly like this. Mukilteo lighthouse was built 1906.

Telephone poles and settlement density suggest 1908–1915.

This real photo postcard captures Mukilteo, Washington in the early 1900s shortly after the construction of the Mukilteo Light Station (1906). The photograph was taken from the hillside wagon road leading down into the waterfront settlement, showing the rural farming community, telegraph line, shoreline buildings and lighthouse that guided steamships through Possession Sound. Before modern development and the ferry terminal, Mukilteo was a small agricultural and maritime town, and photographs like this served as local souvenirs documenting everyday life along Puget Sound.

Today such images provide valuable visual records of the town’s earliest years.
