This is a rare 1844 edition of "Pilgrim's Progress" portfolio by H.C. Selous, featuring a 22 plate portfolio sequence that chronicles key moments in the story. The oversized folio format measures approximately 11” x 16.75” and has a luxury double silk doublure binding. Published in London by Holloway for Elite Subscribers of the Art Union of London, this history and religion-themed book is an original first edition with intricately engraved illustrations by Henry Moses. The black-lined borders add to the elegance of this collectible piece, making it a valuable addition to any antiquarian book collection.

Originally distributed these plates loosely in paper folders. Early owners commissioned the custom bindings to protect them. This is a bespoke high end binding. This Art Union of London First Edition can be found in the ROYAL ACADEMY OF ARTS and NATIONAL LIBRARY OF NEW ZEALAND which highlights its historical significance.
