Rare 1933 Anti-Prohibition Broadside Flyer WONPR Women's Reform Connecticut:
$119.00

Year: 1933.Organization: Women's Organization for National Prohibition Reform (W.O.N.P.R.).Theme: Prohibition/Repeal of the 18th Amendment.Type: Political Broadside/Flyer.Region: Connecticut (New Haven).Size: Approx. 7" x 10 1/4"
Authentic original 1933 political broadside flyer issued by the Connecticut Branch of the Women's Organization for National Prohibition Reform (W.O.N.P.R.).This historic piece of ephemera features the bold, urgent headline: "Go to the Polls! June 20th, 1933." It served as a powerful call to action for Connecticut citizens to vote for delegates favoring the repeal of the 18th Amendment. The effort was a massive success, with Connecticut voters overwhelmingly backing the repeal 6-to-1 on that exact day, leading to the ratification of the 21st Amendment later that year. Founded by Pauline Morton Sabin, the W.O.N.P.R. was a powerhouse organization that shattered the myth that all women supported Prohibition. This is a spectacular piece of both Prohibition history and early 20th-century women's political activism.
Very nice condition. No folds or creases, which is rare for a paper hand-out of this age. Paper shows light paper toning appropriate for its age, giving it a beautiful, authentic vintage patina. There are no tears, pinholes, or heavy stains. Printed by the Connecticut Branch, W.O.N.P.R., New Haven. An excellent addition for serious collectors of political memorabilia, temperance/prohibition history, or women's history.
