With the originals going for $1500-2000 in the rare event one pops up for sale, these new production sets are a great alternative with very similar aesthetic and geometry to the originals. This particular set has the longer serration pattern on the sides of the lower handguard, and has been finished in a classic and vibrant bakelite orange finish! No, the bakelite magazine shown above is NOT included, and is only shown as a reference to the finish of the wood itself.These pieces are100% made in the USA from USA sourced and hand selectedHard Woods such as Hickory, Hard Maple, Oak or Ash which is the same wood used for baseball bats, hammer and axe handles etc. and can take a real kinetic beating unlike most other wood used for this application. The pieces that we make are manufactured at a tighter tolerance compared to the standard mil spec stuff (final fitting may be required), and have been re engineered and bolstered with thicker walls in the internal dimensions where possible. The inner channel for the lower hand guard has been redesigned to fit much more snugly around the barrel and trunnion/receiver area, increasing the internal width of the wood and its overall durability significantly! The mounting points have also been improved for more solid mounting and increased integrity to prevent wobble or coming loose over time.
