Reproduction M1942 Light Shade HBT Cap WWII Impressions Size 7-3/4 Sage Army:
$50.00

This is a reproduction WWII Impressions Brand Herringbone Twill Fatigue Cap in early war "Light Shade" Sage Green. Made in the USA in Downey, CA. This HBT Cap is size 7-3/4. It is in excellent condition, purchased new, hand washed once, and seldom worn. The cap has a 2 inch wide, 5-stitch re-enforced brim, four eyelets, and all tags are present. Fabric is in excellent condition with no fading, mothing, stains, fraying, tears, holes, etc. Stitching is tight. From a pet and smoke free home. See pictures for full condition, feel free to message with any questions.Historical Note: Designed for fatigue use, the M1942 HBT uniform was designed to replace the earlier denim workwear of the thirties, and the slightly more complex M1941 pattern HBT Uniform that preceded it. Used for the dirty jobs to cover the wool service uniform, it was cut extremely large so it could be worn over multiple underlayers. It eventually saw field use as a warm weather uniform, and mixed with the M43 and wool uniforms during the winter months for extra warmth. The color remained sage green until the next year when it was replaced with the same pattern in a darker OD7 that was issued until its replacement with the later pattern "M47" fatigues postwar. In practice, HBTs were issued until they were used up, and many sage green fatigues remained in use until worn out, with different patterns seen in use alongside each-other. Similarly, the OD7 HBT fatigues of both M43 and M47 patterns would remain in service throughout the Korean War and the mid-1950s despite officially being replaced by the cotton-sateen M1953 fatigues.
