STANLEY RUSSELL JENNINGS No. 100, 13 Auger Bit Set 32 1/2 Qtrs, 3-Tiered Box EXC For Sale

Here we have an EXCELLENTVintage STANLEY RUSSELL JENNINGS No. 100, 13 AugerBits Set 32 1/2 Qtrs. in Orig. Wood 3-Tiered Box. The RussellJennings Company of Deep River and later, Chester, Connecticut (on theConnecticut River between Essex and Haddam) was a long-time PREMIER maker ofspur auger bits and other bitstock tools.Jennings\' seminal 1855 patent for a \"double twist\" auger bitwith extension lips launched the company.Over the last half of the Nineteenth Century the company produced allsorts of auger and boring bits based on this patent.Stanley acquired the Russell Jennings Manufacturing Company in 1944.Stanley continued to operate the Russell Jennings Chester, Connecticut factory until 1961, at which point manufacturing was moved to their primary New Britain, Connecticut facility.The lid has the originalproduct label. This complete set has the followingsizes: 4, 5, 6, 7, 8, 9, 10, 11, 12, 13, 14, 15 & 16. The bits are allmaker marked: with the Russell No.100 info. but one bit (the No. 8) also has the STANLEY logo. I\'m guessing that this set was assembled at the factory after Stanley acquired Russell and they were probably using up inventory at that time to fill orders ?? Regardless, these bits are inEXCELLENT clean \'used tool\' condition !The finger-jointed wood box has very minorcosmetic wearconsisting of scratches and scuffs to the surface. NO cracks in the box. It has 6 EXCELLENT brass hinges and 3 brass closures.Set weighs approx. 4.5 lbs.Please review the pics to confirm the condition !!
