Saguaro National Park Saguaro Blossom Token For Sale

This token is a tribute to the namesake saguaro at Saguaro National Park. The front of the token sports a magnified waxy white blossom from the cactus, which are 3\" across and appear for only 24 hours in May-June. Each Saguaro yields many dozen blossoms, but each blossom lasts only 24 hours before withering and dropping off the plant. The blossoms are pollinated by two bat species during nighttime and again during the day by bees, moths and hummingbirds. Pollinated blossoms yield bright red fruit which are edible by humans and other desert creatures.
The reverse of the token displays a saguaro forest common to the Sonoran desert of central and southern Arizona.
