The Sampson Medal, officially known as the West Indies Naval Campaign Medal, was awarded to crewmembers of the auxiliary cruiser U.S.S. TECUMEH for their participation under Rear Admiral William T. Sampsonduring the Spanish-American War of 1898, who participated in strategic engagements in the West Indies and Cuba.
