The "family vacation" became popular in the early 50's for American working families.Vacations were no longer restricted to the rich.
American women needed some easy to sew, packable "playtime" clothing which was useful, pretty and 'presentable' (many women did not wear pants in public at that time so you could cover the pants with a skirt).
This was an excellent pattern for that reason alone!

CONDITION NOTE ABOUT NORMAL WEAR ON THE PATTERN ENVELOPES OF VINTAGE PATTERNS:
This pattern has been stored for over 70 years.. The outer envelopes of many vintage patterns show signs of normal wear and long storage: rips, tears, folds, perhaps some small pieces torn off, marks on the envelope. Even if the patterns have not been used they have usually been handled and measured. Some have dings and dents. I usually photograph as many of the dings and dents as I have room for. Please see all photos!!
New vs Used patterns
Those patterns listed as "New" are listed as new because they are uncut/unused (usually "factory folded") patterns but they are NOS; New Old Stock. The pattern envelope will show signs of wear from long storage but the pattern is new and unused.
Those listed as “used” have been cut.
