Stephen Fellerman Studios ’83 Pair Pulled Feather Cobalt Art Glass Signed For Sale

Wonderful pair of Stephen Fellerman Studios hand-blown art glass vessels, purchased together and retained together as a pair. Each is individually signed and dated “Fellerman Studios ’83” on the underside.

Created in 1983, the vessels feature striking pulled-feather decoration in deep cobalt blue with shifting turquoise/blue-green, smoky blue-gray and warm golden tones.

The character of the glass changes dramatically with the lighting. In reflected light the colors appear deeper and more iridescent, while transmitted or backlighting brings out vivid cobalt and turquoise. Photographs in different lighting are included to show this remarkable variation.

The two vessels are closely matched in size, form and decoration but were individually hand blown. Subtle differences in the feather patterns and coloration are characteristic of handmade studio glass and give each piece its own character.

The two vessels were purchased together and have remained together as a pair. Both are individually signed and dated 1983.
