Offered for your consideration is a very rare and seldom seen 1951 green and white airbrushed palm tree 3\" tall china mug - cup made by the Syracuse China Co.
This pattern features multiple shades of green airbrushed onto a white base that looks absolutely mesmerizing. It was made in May of 1951 (datecode of 5-FF(5FF)) in Syracuse, New York, and done in the beautiful Econo-Rim version.This pattern rarely ever surfaces and is quite the desirable sought after Syracuse China Shadowtone - Airbrushed Palm tree patterns made.This pattern features two green palm trees with white sky, ocean, and an island setting off in the distance.
The amount of craftsmanship and skill that the Syracuse China artist - china employee in the decorating department took in just making this one mug would even be difficult today to replicate. Additionally, they were doing this by hand with just a pliable stencil and created a most beautiful and now rare mug for actual restaurant operations in 1951.
It isnot souvenir china; rather, this is an actual heavyweight type steamship, restaurant, and hotel china. Itwould have been used in a café, restaurant, hotel, diner, or lunch room that used this pattern to serve hot coffee, hot tea, or even hot chocolate from.Additionally, it would have been used in connection with the establishment’s hotel silver soldered – silver plate and glassware type serving items for actual table – counter service.
