Modern Idols Playing Cards is a series of poker decks inspired by various modern beliefs, designed by Giovanni Meroni for Thirdway Industries, and printed by the United States Playing Card Company using special inks where pure silver ink is mixed with one of three different colors of neon ink. Each suit has a different color (Clubs = green, Diamonds = orange, Hearts = pink, & Spades = pure silver). Two diverging paths are presented in Modern Idols: that of Fear and that of Hope.
The Fear Editions highlight optimistic modern beliefs; each court card depicts a different idol. Spades are devoted to enhancement: the Jack = Idol of Technology, the Queen = Idol of Abnegation, and the King = Idol of Knowledge. Hearts depict individualistic concepts: the Jack = Idol of Vanity, the Queen = Idol of Hedonism, and the King = Idol of Conformism. Clubs show world changing idols: the Jack = Idol of Vengeance, the Queen = Idol of Ecology, and the King = Idol of Ideology. Diamonds have materialistic idols: the Jack = Idol of Games, the Queen = Idol of Consumerism, and the King = Idol of Work. Meanwhile, the Jokers depict the God of Fear and the Goddess of Hope. While designed for cardistry, this deck is perfect for card game enthusiasts and collectors alike!
