This is an extremely nice Telechron General Electric type H-3 rotor & coil assembly (3.6 RPM) gently harvested from an early 1950\'s GE clock. This rotor/coil assembly was used in dozens of different General Electric and Telechron clock and clock-radio configurations over the years. The rotor is the original heavy-duty copper version - - not the more modern (and chintzy) aluminum.
This rotor was internally flushed (ultrasonically) with mild solvent, drained over 3 days, and the process was repeated. I then filled it with the appropriate synthetic oil, let it \"rest\" for 2 days, then completely drained it. I did this twice to make sure all old contaminants and sludge were removed. I then filled it with an appropriate amount of synthetic oil, and sealed the small access hole with an aluminum plug and sealed it up with epoxy. (The hole is less than 1/8\", and requires syringes to flush and re-lube the rotor.) It should provide many years of faithful service in your clock.
The coil measures 596 ohms and draws around 2 watts, right where it should be. It ran on my workbench for 3 days; it should run in your clock for many years to come. I de-soldered the connecting wires using GC Rosin flux and a vacuum solder sucker to minimize heat on the terminals. I also reinforced the area around the coil and terminals with epoxy, since the paper coil wrapping becomes brittle with age and is easily damaged.PLEASE NOTE: The black \"smears\" on the coil are from the factory; it is the asphalt insulating material applied to each layer of wire in the winding. Sometimes they got a little sloppy . . . !
