BIOGRAPHY: Tom Sidonia (1869–1954) was an American circus performer and artist, widely billed at the turn of the 20th century as "the most tattooed man in the world". Before retiring, he worked as a tightrope artist and trick bicycle rider. Sidonia was one of the first men to be fully covered in body ink using electric tattooing machines. His extensive tattoos included a prominent "St. George and the Dragon" piece. He was inked in New York City by the pioneering early tattoo artist Professor Samuel O'Reilly. Famed 19th-century photographer Charles Eisenmann captured classic portraits of Sidonia (then known as "The Tattooed Boy") at age 21.
