Original Trommer's Malt Beer "for Meatless Days!" counter/display sign, brewed by John F. Trommer, Inc., Brooklyn, NY — Orange, NJ. Dates to the WWII home-front era, c. 1943-1945, when meat was rationed and "meatless days" were part of the national conservation effort. The artwork shows a glass of Trommer's beside a meatless spread — baked beans, eggs, bread, and cheese — on period blue gingham.
Lithographed surface on original composition-board backing. A true counter/back-bar display, not a reproduction. Approx. 14" x 9.5".
CONDITION (disclosed in full): Edge chipping and minor loss at upper right corner. Light surface crease across top. Scattered soiling/toning on lighter areas. Verso has two small hook-and-loop squares and light residue from a prior display mount, plus a partially legible manufacturer/process imprint. Sold as a genuine vintage original with honest wear.
