U.S. Frigate Constitution Original Hull Wood Canon 1927 Plaque Keel Laid 1794 For Sale

This is a rare single book end from the 1927 Restoration of the US frigate Constitution. During the major 20th-century overhaul of "Old Ironsides," the U.S. Navy sold authorized public souvenirs made from discarded original hull timber, copper, and rigging to help fund the preservation project. Cannon Style: These specific bookends are carved or shaped to look like the breech end of a ship's cannon. Identifying Markers: Authentic pieces typically feature an embedded metal plaque directly on the base stating: "This material was taken from the original hull of the U.S. Frigate Constitution keel laid 1794 rebuilding 1927".
