USS Salmon SS 573 Submarine Brass Plaque/photos/ Ocean Passage Book+maps RARE For Sale

This listing is for a rare group of vintage items from the US Navy\'s Submarine the USS Salmon SS 573. This group of items were picked up at a local estate sale and belonged to Navy Veteran Lieutenant Joseph N. Korte. The items include the Brass Plaque, the large book \"OCEAN PASSAGES FOR THE WORLD\" which is complete with all its original maps, and an large group of original photographs all taken aboard the Salmon during different voyages.Lieutenant Korte served as the Navigator on the Salmon during the late 1950\'s thru the early 1960\'s. The Salmon had a crew of 73 men plus 12 officers. The ship was reclassified as an attack submarine on march 1, 1961 after being launched on the 25th of August 1956.The group of original Deckle edge photos are all in very nice condition except some are quite curved from being inside a box for 50+ years. They show all aspects of life aboard the Salmon and are very interesting pieces of Naval history!!I researched different ways to flatten out the 4 1/2\" x 3\" photos, so it is something that can be done so that they can be inserted into a album.The 100 or so photo\'s are all in very good condition!!The solid brass plaque is 4 3/4\" diameter and quite heavy. It was given to crew members upon completion of their time aboard the USS Salmon and are quite rare.Please check all of the photos carefully as these are the items that you will receive, so please send any questions you may have.
