Ultra-Rare Antique Coppa’s Restaurant San Francisco \"Black Cat\" Vitrified China For Sale

An Incredible Piece of Pre-Earthquake San Francisco Bohemian History!Up for sale is a highly collectible and extraordinarily rare vintage vitrified china oval serving platter from the legendaryCoppa’s Restaurant(also affectionately known asThe Black Cat), once located in the historic Montgomery Block building in San Francisco.Founded by iconic chef Giuseppe \"Papa\" Coppa, the restaurant became the ultimate sanctuary for early 20th-century California artists, writers, and bohemians like Xavier Martinez, Maynard Dixon, and Gelett Burgess. The venue was famous for its eccentric wall murals, most notably a stenciled row of black cats painted by artist Xavier Martinez (inspired by Paris\'sLe Chat Noir). Papa Coppa leaned into this bohemian identity by commissioning highly coveted, custom dinnerware featuring the iconic Black Cat motif.Given the destruction of the original restaurant in the 1906 San Francisco Earthquake and Fire, original dinnerware pieces from Coppa\'s are incredibly scarce and highly prized by historians, California artifact collectors, and vintage restaurant ware enthusiasts alike. It measures 13.5 inches long and 9.5 inches wide.Features & Details:
