An exceptional find for textile lovers, designers and collectors.
This is a genuine, unused vintage French Métis sheeting panel from the renowned \"Fleur Bleue\" brand—highly esteemed historically for producing the gold standard of superior quality French household linens. This piece is \"deadstock\" (new old stock) from the 1950s. It has never been used, hemmed, or laundered, remaining entirely in its original, raw-edged, crisply starched state. *MORE AVAILABLE*
I have quite a few of these available and if anyone would like others I will give a discount and combine postage.ABOUT THE FABRIC:
Métis (A premium traditional blend where the weft is pure linen for longevity and the warp is high-quality cotton for smoothness and flexibility).
Brand/Mark: Authentic \"Fleur Bleue\" heritage quality.
Colour: Beautiful, classic natural ecru / cream oatmeal with the typical small irregularities and flecks visible in older natural-fibre cloth.
Texture: Currently possesses its original heavy, stiff, crisp factory starch. Like all high-grade French métis, it will soften beautifully into an incredibly supple, heavy-draped luxury fabric with a few warm soaks and washes.
Edges: Raw, untouched selvedge edges on the long sides, ready to be hemmed or used for projects.Approximate measurements:
Width: 218 cm
Length: 323 cmThis generous width and length make it perfect for a luxury flat sheet, or for cutting down into multiple smaller textile projects.CONDITION & LAUNDERING NOTES
The fabric is completely dry and structurally excellent with NO visible mold stains, spots, or damage. However, please note that it carries a strong vintage storage/musty odor from being wrapped in brown paper and kept in a closed environment for roughly 70 years.
Because this is completely unwashed deadstock, it still retains its original factory starch, which naturally traps and holds onto vintage storage scents over the decades. To protect its original \"unused\" status for collectors, I am listing this completely unwashed. The storage scent will easily resolve with a standard vintage textile restoration process (a long soak in warm water with bicarbonate of soda or specialized linen wash, followed by line drying in the fresh air and sunshine).Due to its heavy, resilient \"workhorse\" quality and beautiful natural texture, this panel is incredibly versatile. A highly sought-after single panel from a premium marque. For transparency, an identical unused Fleur Bleue vintage sheet recently fetched £49.95 on the market. This piece is priced fairly to reflect its pristine structure and its need for a simple home refresh wash.
