ANTIQUESterling SilverGM FrigidaireAdvertising Love Token Medallion1 3/8\" diameterThey were made in 1933.This one is engraved: Ethelyn From Guy 4-5-34THESE MEDALLIONS WERE DESIGNED BY FRIGIDAIRE, GM, TO BE ENGRAVED WITH SPECIAL MESSAGES WHEN SOMEONE WOULD PURCHASE A FRIGIDAIRE APPLIANCE AND WANTED TO USE ONE OF THESE MEDALLIONS TO EXPRESS THEIR LOVE.THERE WOULD HAVE BEEN A PEEL-OFF PAPER ON THE BACK CONCEALING A STICKY SURFACE, THAT ONCE REMOVED, WOULD ALLOW THE MEDALLION TO STICK TO THE APPLIANCE. I BELIEVE THAT 1933 WAS THE ONLY YEAR THESE WERE USED.It has been stored in a lined silver-chest for at least 92 years.There may be some tarnish and/or scratches.I did try to clean it up a little.The item is silver. There may be a yellowish cast in some photos.The crackled effect on the back may be from the original peel & stick paper.
