Fantastic vintage carved bamboo Tiki table lamp combining traditional Tiki-inspired figural carving with the theatrical tropical style of the mid-century Tiki bar era. The exaggerated anthropomorphic face takes on a wonderfully reptilian character, with a pronounced brow and snout, tooth-like details and deeply carved scale-like patterning running vertically along both sides.
The design is especially effective as a lamp. Multiple open sections throughout the face and body are backed with closely spaced natural bamboo/reed screening, allowing warm light to filter through from top to bottom while highlighting the dimensional carving. Illuminated, the figure takes on an entirely different presence. Very much at home in a vintage Tiki bar, cocktail lounge, home bar or tropical MCM interior.
The cylindrical body is finished in dramatic black and natural wood tones with braided natural-fiber trim at the top and base. Even unlit, the contrasting carved surfaces, geometric details and reptilian scaling give the piece considerable sculptural texture.
Fitted with a distinctivegold-tone twisted electrical cord with inline rocker switch. ALED flame-effect bulb is included, producing the warm flickering amber appearance shown in the photographs and listing video.
Measures approximately 16” high × 5” wide.
