Vintage Elgin MCM "Windmill" Desk Clock, 1970s Mod Home Furnishing, Collectible Mid-Century Wall Decor
Groovy C 1970 MCM Elgin desk/wall clock that brings back fond memories of such mid-century TV shows as Laugh-In, Mod Squad and Scooby Doo. Guaranteed to add a retro touch to a living room wall, den shelf or office desk, this rare "mod" battery-run clock is fully functional, keeping good time while looking Twiggy-cool.
Measures a total of 22 1/8" long x 18 1/8" wide x 5 1/4" deep and weighs 7 lbs, 5 1/2 oz. A walnut-stained, offset, solid wood case frames a yellow-silver face with black hash markings, 12 o'clock circle dot and hour + minute hands. "ELGIN" is also noted in black. Clock mechanism, dial to adjust speed, battery compartment as well as two eye loops for hanging on a wall are located on the back. Expected yet mild edge wear is present, including a limited area on the right outer bottom, which shows evidence of a light touch-up (photo #15). Occasional small scratches are found elsewhere. Both hands are slightly bent (photo #17). These blemishes are minor and essentially non-distracting. Battery compartment is completely clean without rust or corrosion. Noted on the back plastic case is "1 SCALE=5 SEC", and on the brass case "ONE JEWEL UNADJUSTED JAPAN". Runs on one "C" battery, not included.
