A beautiful, authentic vintage Swedish Dala Horse, hand-carved and hand-painted in Sweden.
Measuring 8.5 inches tall from the floor to the tips of the ears, this is a highly desirable larger-scale model that makes a wonderful standout display piece for any Scandinavian folk art collection.
Key Features & Production Details:
• Stamped Belly: Features the authentic, permanent "MADE IN SWEDEN" text stamp pressed directly into the wood grain on the underbelly.
• Original Lathe Spindle Marks: This piece proudly features the small, uniform, original production pin/lathe holes on its sides from the traditional workshop duplicating machinery. Left unfilled during production, these give the horse fantastic authentic workshop character and prove its handmade lineage.
• Stunning Paint Brightness: Decorating this horse are traditional, colorful kurbits floral patterns. The colors are remarkably strong and true.
Condition & Provenance:
This horse has spent the last 20 years tucked away inside a dark, climate-controlled storage space, protecting it entirely from sunlight fading and humidity damage.
As a result, the vibrant burnt orange base paint remains incredibly strong. The structure is 100% solid with no deep cracks, breaks, or repairs. There is some minor, very light paint flaking and tiny superficial nicks along the top ridge of the horse's back and rump (as clearly highlighted in the close-up photos). This light surface wear is completely normal and expected for mid-century Swedish folk art of this age.
