Pre-code horror from the publisher that got the Comics Code written. Vault of Horror #28, EC Comics, dated December 1952 / January 1953 - two full years before the Code existed. JOHNNY CRAIG cover and lead story: the Haitian voodoo tale of a plantation owner whose new bride dies and returns, decomposing, with burned-at-the-stake and bondage imagery on the page. This is precisely the content the Comics Code was created to stop, and books like this one are why EC's horror line was legislated out of existence. Interior art by JACK DAVIS, GRAHAM INGELS, GEORGE EVANS and BILL ELDER, colours by MARIE SEVERIN, published by Bill Gaines and edited with Al Feldstein.
