Original 1928 Grand Canyon photograph taken by the legendary Kolb Brothers Studio.
This historic image captures a classic tourist mule party navigating a steep switchback trail down into the canyon. The bottom center of the photograph is hand-dated \"Aug. 22 \'28\" and marked \"No. 59\".
The photograph measures 5\" x 7\" and is housed entirely in its original 7\" x 9\" textured brown paper souvenir frame.
The reverse side retains its beautifully preserved original printed backing. It contains historic promotional information detailing Major J. W. Powell’s famous 1869 expedition and the Kolb Brothers\' own 1911 river journey. It features their classic studio location note: \"This studio is Independent of all Hotels, and stores; located by the toll gate at the head of Bright Angel trail, 200 feet past the company\'s rock lookout.\"
