Vintage Red Wing Art Pottery "Grecian" Vase – Mold #159 (Circa 1929–1932)

Up for sale is a beautiful, authentic piece of early American art pottery: a Red Wing Art Pottery "Grecian" double-handled vase (Mold #159). Produced for a short period between 1929 and 1932, this classical Art Deco piece features an incised design of dark green/teal Grecian figures against a cream-colored glazed body, accented by a distinctive debossed squiggle pattern around the base.

The bottom features the faint, authentic circular stamp reading: "RED WING ART POTTERY CO. RED WING, MINN." along with the incised mold number 159.

CONDITION DETAILS:

• Excellent Vintage Condition: No chips, post-production cracks, or repairs.

• Factory-Hand-Wiped Glaze: Features beautiful, original factory-hand-wiped glaze variations. The lighter, faded look on the upper rim and handles is entirely original to the 1930s manufacturing process where the dark glaze was wiped from the high points before firing (See last 4 photos).

• Factory Original Mold Seam: The line running across the base is an original manufacturing mold/seam mark from the slip-casting process, not a structural crack. The glaze and clay are fully continuous.

• Character: Minor factory glaze variations and typical unglazed foot-rim wear consistent with early 1930s production.
