Highly collectible piece of post-WWII / early Cold War military history. This vintage porcelain souvenir unit ashtray is dedicated to the 41st Armored Infantry Battalion, which was stationed at Coleman Barracks in Mannheim, Germany.
The top of the ashtray displays the bold blue text: \"41ST ARMD INF BN\", \"COLEMAN BKS\", and \"GERMANY\". The center features a detailed unit crest featuring their proud motto, \"Straight and Stalwart.\"
What makes this specific piece incredibly unique is the personalized, hand-painted inscription on the bottom: \"SGM 1952-54\". This indicates it was the personal souvenir of a Sergeant Major who served at the barracks during the height of the early Cold War era.
The bottom also features the original maker’s stamp: \"Dekor: Reinhard, Mannheim-Kä.\"—showing it was decorated by a local artisan shop right down the road from the American base in the Mannheim-Käfertal district.
Condition:
Excellent vintage condition. The porcelain glaze remains glossy, and the blue lettering and center crest are sharp and highly legible.
A wonderful addition to any collection focusing on the 2nd Armored Division, Cold War deployment in Germany, or military tobacciana.
