Showcasing an incredibly unique and dramatic manufacturing defect from the late 1960’s, this authentic vintage New Orleans, Louisiana travel souvenir plate features its entire graphic design permanently printed completely backwards. This rare ceramic collector's piece features a classic sky blue outer rim framing a detailed collage of iconic Crescent City landmarks, including the Sugar Bowl stadium, the Old Absinthe House, the French Quarter Lace Balconies, the St. Louis Cathedral, and the then-newly constructed 1967 International Trade Mart skyscraper centering a Mardi Gras parade court graphic. Due to a fascinating factory assembly line transfer mirror error, the film pattern was applied completely inverted prior to the firing process, leaving all of the historical site titles and the central city name reading in total reverse text. The design is set against a plain white glazed background on the reverse side, keeping the complete form of this striking optical anomaly intact. This captivating mid-century misprint makes an outstanding addition for specialized factory error collectors, novelty ceramic curators, or vintage Americana hobbyists seeking a rare conversation piece that defies typical production standards.
