Vintage Breyer #38 “Speck” Family Arabian Mare in the desirable small-blanket Appaloosa variation, dating to approximately 1967–1970
This is an original vintage Breyer model on the classic Family Arabian Mare mold, sculpted by Chris Hess. The model features the characteristic black mane and tail, dark lower legs, and black Appaloosa spotting concentrated across the hindquarters. The underside carries the early round “Breyer Molding Co.” mark.
The body has developed age-related yellowing/discoloration, giving the originally light grey Appaloosa finish a warm cream/tan appearance. This type of color change is seen on older Breyer models and has been left exactly as found rather than altered or restored.
Condition is pre-owned vintage with visible age and handling wear, including surface scratches, rubs, marks, finish wear, and discoloration. The most noticeable wear is around the neck/mane area. Despite the cosmetic wear, the model remains structurally complete with no obvious broken ears, legs, or tail observed.
