AB&I refers to American Brass & Iron / AB&I Foundry, an Oakland, California foundry that traces its history back to after the 1906 San Francisco earthquake. Their main business is cast iron pipe and fittings, but AB&I cookware does show up occasionally. This heavy cast iron pot features the AB&I marking cast into the side handles and has a classic round form with fitted lid, making it a desirable piece for collectors of vintage American cast iron cookware.AB&I cookware is much less commonly found than many larger cast iron brands, and this example has strong collector appeal due to the marked handles, matching lid, and heavy-duty construction.
