Up for sale is a fantastic, rare, complete vintage stage magic prop set featuring a classic "Hippity-Hop" Style Gorilla Transposition Illusion (constructed in the highly collectible Abbott's Magic Company workshop style).
Standing at a substantial 18 inches tall, this professional-grade parlor or stage effect is built entirely from solid, hand-painted wood.
How the Illusion Works (Mechanism Explained):
Unlike standard sliding tricks, the two main gorilla figures in this set are permanently attached to their wooden stage bases for maximum stability during a live show. The illusion utilizes solid wood, green jungle-cage covers. These covers feature central guide slots that fit over the handles of the gorilla outer slipcovers.
By lifting the cages, the magician can secretly remove or exchange the outer slipcovers, allowing the gorillas to magically change colors.
Item Specifications:
• Height: 18 Inches (Oversized for excellent stage visibility)
• Material: Solid wood construction, hand-painted layout
• Theme: Stylized Gorillas with Green Bamboo Cage Covers
• Components Included: 2x Permanently mounted base gorilla figures, color-changing gorilla shell/slipcovers, and 2x Solid Wood Bamboo Cage Covers.
Condition:
This is a vintage, previously used professional magic prop. It shows typical light cosmetic wear, minor paint scuffs, and great vintage character from age and performance use, but it is structurally sound and fully operational. The colors remain bold and vibrant. One backside of one of the boxes has sticky residue on it and a little on the white gorilla slip covers head. I believe a paper or something of that nature was laid across it. I am not going to mess with it. I read there’s a bunch of different ways you can attempt to get it off, but I don’t want to ruin the integrity of the paint. I am pricing accordingly . Please review all photos carefully to assess the exact cosmetic condition.
Shipping Note:
This is a solid, heavy wood item. It will be securely packed and padded to ensure safe transit.
