RARE VINTAGE APOLLO 11 OVERSIZED 14" x 11" PHOTOGRAPH — BUZZ ALDRIN ON THE LUNAR SURFACE
Up for sale is a magnificent, true vintage contemporary photograph from the historic Apollo 11 lunar landing mission on July 20, 1969.
This stunning image (NASA ID: AS11-40-5947) captures Lunar Module Pilot Buzz Aldrin deploying the Early Apollo Scientific Experiments Package (EASEP). He is shown carrying the Passive Seismic Experiment Package (PSEP) across the lunar dust, with incredibly crisp, historic boot footprints sharply visible in the foreground.
CRITICAL COLLECTOR HIGHLIGHTS:
• Authentic "A KODAK PAPER" Watermark: The reverse side features the faint, diagonal single-line "A KODAK PAPER" watermark. This specific branding was explicitly used by Kodak from 1961 until mid-1972, definitively verifying that this print is an authentic artifact manufactured during the exact years of the Apollo program—not a modern or digital reproduction.
• Scarce 14x11 Exhibition Format: While standard vintage NASA press prints are 10x8 inches, this rare piece is printed on an oversized 14" x 11" archival stock. Large-format prints of this era were typically reserved for high-level NASA VIP presentations, aerospace contractor corporate displays, or gallery exhibitions.
• Beautiful Period-Correct Aging: The photograph shows a gorgeous, characteristic purplish-magenta hue. This color shift is highly desired by vintage photography collectors; it occurs naturally over the decades as the original cyan dyes in late-1960s Kodak Ektacolor paper age, serving as visual proof of the print's historical authenticity.
CONDITION DETAILS:
This print is in beautiful vintage condition with excellent structural integrity. The emulsion is vibrant. There is mild, natural curling to the paper and a few minor handling dimples along the left edge as expected with vintage paper of this age. It has been kept safely in a smoke-free environment. Please inspect the high-resolution listing photos closely for an exact look at the margins and reverse side.
SHIPPING & HANDLING:
To preserve its condition, this rare photograph will be shipped flat in an acid-free archival sleeve and heavily reinforced with rigid, crush-proof cardboard packaging. Full tracking and insurance are included.
