I have not seen another blanket with this exact same pattern online for sale. It is almost 100 years old. Please see photos for detailed condition. Please read the last paragraph of this description for more information. This is a preowned item that is very old.
This blanket was produced by Barron Mills woolen company. They were actually out of Utah near Salt Lake City. it is an interesting historical story, the mill actually burned down like five or six times. They were producing blankets around the same time as the Hudson River blanket company. The mill employed many people in the area at that time and was a large part of the expansion of profitability of the early Mormon church. It was a way for the community to purchase and purpose the wool from the valley. And by creating blankets, they were able to sell what they had created as the blankets were portable.
This is a very cool and unique blanket. I have seen very few of them online. The rising Sun motif was specifically designed to trade with Indians in the pioneer days. This blanket should have been produced somewhere around 1930 or so. Look a couple pictures in, and that blue is the actual blue of the blanket. It is a robin’s egg with a little bit of slate blue thrown in.
Please note, that the satin edging has come off of the blanket! Therefore those edges are showing somewhere. Please look at the photos carefully for detail details. As this is almost an antique, just a couple years off, there may be fine little holes in the blanket due to wear and tear. For the age, it is in remarkably good condition. There are no large holes, but again there maybe small holes.
