Vintage Blue and White Chinoiserie Porcelain Vase 12\" Lotus Pond Hand Painted For Sale

Vintage 12-Inch Blue and White Chinoiserie Porcelain Vase – Lotus and lily pads

This blue and white porcelain vase is the kind of piece that anchors a Southern Christmas table. Blue and white layered with tartan, boxwood, and brass is a classic Southern holiday look, and at 12 inches tall this vase has the height to hold its own in a centerpiece or on a mantel.

The vase is hand-painted in cobalt blue underglaze and depicts a lotus pond with water birds. In traditional Chinese symbolism, mandarin ducks represent marital harmony and fidelity, which makes this a meaningful piece as well as a decorative one. The decoration also includes floral and scrolling border patterns around the neck and base.

The base is marked \"Made in China\" in painted characters, which is consistent with mid-to-late 20th century export production. It is being sold as a decorative piece rather than an authenticated antique.
