The Big Boy restaurant mascot, the cheerful kid in red checkered overalls, goes back to the 1930s and a little Glendale, California diner, and he later turned up on signs, menus and giveaways at Big Boy restaurants across the country. These painted vinyl figure banks are a favorite with diner, advertising and nostalgia collectors, and he looks right at home on a retro kitchen shelf, a bar or a restaurant memorabilia display.
Painted soft vinyl Big Boy figure coin bank, molded BIG BOY © on the chest and BIG BOY U.S.A. REG. U.S. TRADEMARK on the base.
Condition: Used and sold as-is. The coin slot in the back of the head is torn and split, and a long crack runs through the base plate into the center hole. There is paint loss on the back of the head, a stray red paint smear on the forehead and general surface dirt, see photos. Still a charming display piece with plenty of vintage character.
The photos are part of the description, and he will be packed with care.
