A fun piece of Boston souvenir history: a vintage die-cut tin lithograph fold-over tab shaped like a classic Boston baked-bean pot, printed “BOSTON INVITES YOU!” in bold cream letters on a dark chocolate-brown body. The top of the pot shows a crackle-glaze orange-tan stoneware finish with a pot full of baked beans, a nod to Boston’s famous “Beantown” nickname.
The fold-over tab carries the maker’s mark “PILGRIM BADGE & LABEL CORP,” the well-known Boston badge and novelty maker, and includes the punched V-shaped locking prong used to fasten it to a lapel or hatband. Tabs like this were handed out as tourism, convention and civic-promotion giveaways, most likely in the 1950s era. A charming, hard-to-find shape for Boston, Massachusetts, New England and tab-button collectors.
Measures approximately 2\" tall (including tab) x 1-1/8\" wide.
