Up for sale is an original vintage 1930s/1940s professional-grade meat cleaver, manufactured by the legendary Charles D. Briddell company in Crisfield, Maryland. The blade is clearly stamped with the factory mark: \"BRIDDELL MADE IN U.S.A. NO. 860 6\".
This heavy-duty American-made butcher\'s tool features a thick, full-tang forged carbon steel blade with a 6-inch cutting edge and the iconic teardrop hanging cutout hole on the toe. The full tang is secured by three thick brass compression rivets into its original, beautifully contoured blonde hardwood handle scales.
An incredible showpiece for a rustic cabin kitchen, custom knife collections, outdoor barbecue/smoking setups, or a high-end restoration candidate for a gourmet home chef.
Measurements: 6-inch blade edge, approximately 11.25 inches total length.
Condition: Very good authentic vintage condition. The hardwood handle is completely sturdy, solid, and tightly pinned with no cracks or wobbling. The forged steel blade has a fantastic natural dark patina with honest surface wear, light cosmetic mottling, and minor pitting consistent with age. Edge is clean and free of deep roll chips or severe warping. Left completely uncleaned and unpolished to preserve its vintage character. Sold exactly as pictured.
