Vintage Chinese Hand Carved Camphor Wood Chest 18\" Brass Lock Storage Box For Sale

Vintage Chinese hand-carved camphor wood jewelry/vanity box, likely mid-20th century. Deeply carved relief scenes on all sides depict traditional landscapes — mountains, pagodas, sailing junks, and figures within circular cartouches — bordered by carved foliate motifs, with dark ebonized recesses contrasting against the natural wood tone.

The box retains its original engraved brass box lock and key, featuring traditional Chinese motifs on the lock face — a wonderful detail confirming the piece is complete with its period-correct hardware. Brass strap hinges and brass corner mounts throughout. Sits on shaped bracket feet with dovetailed case construction.

A Preowned gorgeous storage box with a wonderful aroma inside. As is typical of genuine camphor wood, the box still carries a faint natural camphor aroma inside — a lovely detail that speaks to its authenticity and age.

Solid and substantial — measures 18”L x 9”W x 9”H and weighs nearly 11 lbs, reflecting the quality and density of the hardwood construction.

Vintage condition with age-appropriate wear — see photos, fine separation lines at case joints consistent with age and wood movement, remnants of an old paper label (illegible) on the underside of the lid. Sold as-is; please review all photos closely.
