DOCTOR DOLITTLE METALLUNCHBOX from Aladdin Industries 1968. This embossed lunchbox is based on the20th Century Fox movie starring Rex Harrison of the same name. Done as part of the rather large merchandisingcampaign surrounding the release of the 1967 Doctor Dolittle film.Unfortunately, the film was a flop, and much of the merchandise went unsold. Thus the rare R-5 rating. Another artistic masterpiece by AL artdirector Elmer Lehnhardt (whoinvented the “deep-relief 3-Dembossing” featured on the mainpanels of this box), with hisawesome use of color and characters showing the fantastic fantasy on display atthe Blossom’s Circus. Front panel showsthe good Doctor with the two-headed Pushme-pullyuand on the back with a giant snail. Definitelyone of our personal all-time favorite movie-based boxes!

Condition: Box and thermos are complete and correct (including the original wire thermos holder). Boxlithos are clean and glossy throughout without the blemishes to the raised areas on the main front and rear panels so typical with these vintage embossed boxes. Very clean side panels.Light rim wear- with no corner dents or dimples. Metal hardware is nice and shiny. Inside of box is clean with only minor rubbings - with no previous owner markings. Box in overall Excellent Plus C-8.5 condition. Thermos lithos are clean and glossy with a few very light blemishes - no dents or dimples or rattles when shaken - with nice shiny bottom - also in overall Excellent Plus C-8.5 conditions.
