This is a vintage Dietz No. 100 cold blast lantern stamped for P S E &G Co. (Public Service Electric & Gas of New Jersey). These safety lanterns date back to the mid-20th century (frequently the 1950s and 1960s) and were regularly used by utilities, railroads, and construction crews as warning signals due to their distinct yellow frame and red glass globe.
Model: Dietz No. 100 cold blast lantern (stamped on the base).
Markings: Stamped with P.S. & G. CO. on the collar, indicating it was custom-issued or used by Public Service Electric & Gas Company.
Design: Yellow distressed finish, wire bail handle, and a red glass globe typically used for utility work, road safety, or hazard warning.
Condition:
The wick moves, the fount is not overly rusted, and it is in good condition. Original paint, soot was cleaned off.
