Sant’Anna Factory produces all its piecesaccording to entirely handcrafted methodskeeping the same processes since 1741.Sant’Anna is a Portuguese ceramic factory that produces all its products according to the oldest handcraft techniques from the clay preparation until the hand painted phase. Sant’Anna’s tiles and pottery collection are totally handmade. Its artistic quality is recognized on its product’s decoration and painting giving Sant’Anna the quality and unity that characterize the most important world’s companies. Born from a traditional Portuguese Art, Sant’Anna’s ceramics are products of excellence.
All their tiles are produced in accordance with the technical characteristics of centenarian Portuguese tiles. The natural clay is first molded into the tiles desired shape/size and then goes through an air drying process. After drying, the pieces are baked in an oven at ~1050 degrees Celsius. The tiles are then glazed by hand and only after that are they painted. This artistic process ends with a final baking which gives the tiles the appearance, texture, color and brightness they are known for.
