This item is a vintage Goedewaagen ceramic tobacco pipe from Gouda, Holland, with a hand-painted windmill and harbor scene in gold, purple, and green on a cream ground, and "HOLLAND" lettered on the bowl in green script. The brass ferrule connecting the bowl to the amber-tone stem is stamped "Made in Holland" and "Goede-Waagen"; the mark of the Goedewaagen pottery, a Gouda ceramics maker with roots as a pipemaking family dating back to 1779, which grew into one of the best-known names in Dutch ceramics (holding a Royal charter by the 1930s) before it closed in 1982.
