For sale is an authentic, beautifully handcrafted vintage Inuit-style parka doll standing an impressive 16 inches tall. This large folk-art piece features exceptional regional craftsmanship and natural materials, making it a wonderful addition to any collection of Native American, First Nations, or Arctic cultural art.
The doll features a hand-painted and hand-stitched face on a woven cotton muslin base, framed by a soft, genuine plush white arctic fox or rabbit fur hood ruff. She is dressed in a vibrant blue floral calico cotton parka with genuine brown mink or rabbit fur trim at the cuffs. Her detailed boots (mukluks) are crafted from real seal hide or textured calfskin with hand-stitched thick black leather soles, tied neatly with authentic leather suede cords.
Condition:Good vintage pre-owned condition. The cotton calico parka fabric remains incredibly bright, crisp, and clean. The face and hands are intact with no staining. There is minor, age-appropriate thinning/shedding on the side seam of the left boot hide as shown in the close-up photos, which is very common for natural materials of this vintage.
PLEASE NOTE (DISPLAY INFO): The doll has its original internal plastic vertical support dowel running down under the skirt. However, the separate flat base block is missing. The doll will require an aftermarket adjustable metal doll stand or will need to be leaned against a surface to be displayed upright.
