For Sale is aVintage Hudoq Tribal Mask probably from the Dayak peoples of Borneo, Indonesia. The size of this mask (smaller) may indicate that this mask was intended for use by a child.
The mask is previously owned and in Very Good Vintage condition. The polychrome Red, Black and White Color is accented with beautiful geometric carving patterns into the wood. It has the typical Protruding eyes, a beak-like nose, and large butterfly-shaped ears. It also features nicely articulated teeth. Overall this is a gem of a mask! Review pictures for item condition.
FYI -Hudoq is a ritual mask dance performed by Dayaksub-groups (Bahau, Modang, Kayan, Kenyah) in East Kalimantan, Borneo,Indonesia, during September–October to ensure bountiful rice harvests and wardoff pests.
