This is a vintage Japanese Traditional Kokeshi crafted by Kenjiro Hiraga (1918～2012), belonging to the Sakunamistyle.

This piece was created in 1975, when the artist was 55 years old.

Traditional Kokeshi originate from hot spring regions in northern Japan and are characterized by distinct regional styles passed down through generations of craftsmen.

Sakunami-style Kokeshi dolls originate from the Sakunami Onsen area in Sendai City, Miyagi Prefecture, Japan.
They are characterized by a small head, a slender body, and a gentle, simple facial expression.
The body is decorated with a distinctive chrysanthemum pattern known as “Kanikiku,” along with red lathe lines.
