Vintage leather belt with a heavy silver and turquoise buckle. The belt came from a local antique store in Prescott, Az. with a tag stating that it had been owned by a former Rodeo champion here in Prescott. The belt has the name \"Louis\" engraved in sterling silver letters with a large buckle set with beautiful blue turquoise and gold over hand made silver leaves. Prescott\'s Frontier days is recognized as the \"World\'s Oldest Rodeo\", so it\'s very likely the belt had once belonged to someone who had competed in the Prescott rodeo at sometime in the past.
The belt was custom made with full grained hand stitched leather with a rustic leafy engraved pattern. The leather belt is in good overall shape having a small area of the silver metal coil missing and some modest wear to the vintage leather. The buckle is in excellent condition without any damage to the turquoise and is stamped with the hallmark of Kewa silversmith Ed Lovato.
This is a very high quality and rare custom belt that looks to have been made for someone in the rodeo circuit.
The belt is 46 1/2\" long with the buckle measuring 3 1/2\" x 2 1/2\". Weight of the buckle is 3.5 oz
