Up for sale is a stunning, authentic hand-carved and hand-painted wood alebrije sculpture created by the highly acclaimed late master artisan Medardo Blas of San Pedro Cajonos, Oaxaca, Mexico. Because the artist has passed away, his signed original works have become iscarce.
This magnificent serpent (after a meal) showcases the legendary hallmark style of the Blas family workshop. It features beautifully fluid, dynamic carved curves and an incredibly vibrant neon palette. The meticulous detailing includes intricate hand-painted spot and scale configurations flowing seamlessly across a gradient of hot pink, neon green, and deep orange tones.
Measures 14.5” long. Light wear on the bottom otherwise excellent.
